Who Is The Property Coach?

With so many people out there offering you advice on how to present your home when you are selling or renting, you might wonder why you should choose Brian Cotsen's advice over others.

Well read on and hear Brian's story in his own words, then decide if he can tell you what you need to know to stage your home to sell.

 

Brian' Story

Back in 2002 I was working with clients to help them get more from their properties.

I had renovated and redecorated many properties over the years, both for myself and then for clients, but at that time I just saw the process as making more of the space inside a home.

One client I was working with told me about a TV program that she regularly watched, House Doctor™, and said that she thought my work was very similar to that.

I hadn't seen the show, so I sat down with her and watched a few episodes that she had recorded.

"I was hooked"

It was uncanny that I had been doing many of the things that Ann Maurice, the House Doctor™, talked about on her show.

I began to wonder how the TV shows put their teams together and eventually I decided to contact Ann Maurice by email and ask her.

I didn't expect a answer back, well she's a busy lady, but in just 2 days there was a reply in my in box.

Well cutting a long story short a few weeks later I found myself sitting in the meeting room of the executive producer of the show, being interviewed for a role on the makeover team.

When they saw my work they told me it was very House Doctor™ and they offered me the job.

 

I went on to be Location Coordinator for 3 series of the show plus a number of specials.

The great thing about the role of location coordinator was that I could observe Ann & the stylists planning, shopping, executing and then styling the whole project from beginning to end.

I took the opportunity to train with Ann Maurice and take her 'Introductory Home Staging Course' and then her 'Advanced Home Staging Course'.

These were great ways to further my knowledge and understanding of the techniques of 'Home Staging' a property ready to sell.

Following this, whilst still working on the TV show, I set up my own Home Staging business, The Property Coach™ and began offering the general public, a similar service to the one that they saw on TV.

After all if you can't call Ann Maurice around, the next best thing is to use someone trained by her.

From there I began building up my knowledge and experience and then I won a magazine contract with 'Your Home' magazine to write for & style a brand new feature called 'Room Rescue'.

This feature showed how to take rooms that were decorating disasters and turn them into wonderful spaces.

 

It was great fun finding the properties, working with the owners and reinventing the space to create interiors that they fell in love with. To see more about 'Room Rescue' take a look at the media section of the property coach™ website.

Initially the website was set up to offer an onscreen portfolio, but soon I realised that there were many visitors from around the world who were contacting me for information and advice.

I developed a free course in 2005 to test the market and see what sort of information the public wanted. I received thousands of feedback forms telling me what they thought of the course, how I could make it better and give even more useful advice.

In Early 2006 I decided to create a Home Staging course so that anyone could learn the process of Home Staging by following the simple steps, explained by using great photos and audio clips.

After months of work, the course is now ready for you to use on your own property.
